The E.W. Scripps Company has tapped a veteran television producer to serve as its Senior Director of Original Programming — putting her in the driver’s seat on what viewers get on its nationally distributed TV network born under Paxson ownership, Scripps’ digital multicast offerings, and its free-to-air roster of broadcast properties.

Amira Lewally will oversee original content development, from concept to production, across Scripps’ portfolio, which includes networks ION, Bounce, Grit, Laff and ION Mystery. She’ll also work directly with Scripps’ local TV stations and will lead efforts to “align creative talent with network brand strategies, foster audience engagement and deliver compelling programming for viewers nationwide.”

Lewally reports to Scripps SVP/Programming Adam Harman, who said, “As Scripps advances its next chapter of original programming, Amira’s proven track record of cross-platform storytelling and creative vision producing content across multiple genres and for different audiences make her the right leader for this role. Amira’s history of creating programming with strong viewer affinity will enhance the value of content across our full portfolio and in what we deliver to our partners.”

Lewally joins Scripps from A+E Network, where she served as a supervising producer. In addition to her television work, Lewally has a strong background in podcast development and production, having co-created, produced and co-hosted the Lifetime Network podcast, “The Table Is Ours.”

“Scripps’ diverse portfolio opens up incredible opportunities to innovate and tell stories that truly resonate,” said Lewally. “I’m excited to explore new ways to create compelling content, deepen our connection with viewers, and build on the company’s legacy of must-watch original programming that serves and reflects our communities.”

Lewally is based in Washington, D.C.
