It was hinted at in its Upfront conversations with advertisers and with Hispanic-focused media in May. Now, Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) has confirmed that its widely used digital audio delivery platform is getting a visual solution. It’s a move that will bring LaMúsica to connected TVs across the U.S.
Specifically, SBS will begin live streaming for what is to be known as “LaMusica TV” on The Roku Channel. A specific launch date was not shared by SBS in an announcement distributed on Monday morning, but a summertime debut is confirmed.
According to SBS, founded and led by CEO Raúl Alarcon Jr. and Chief Revenue Officer Gene Bryan, “LaMusica TV” will offer a 24/7 slate of programming including livestreaming of SBS’s top-ranked radio shows and SBS-aligned hosts and iconic personalities, including “El Vacilón de la Mañana” from WSKQ-FM “Mega 97.9” in New York; “The Raúl Brindis Show” from recently acquired KROI-FM in Houston; Alex Sensation’s MegaMix from WXDJ-FM “El Zol 106.7” in Miami; personalities “El Terrible,” Eddie One and Chiquilín from KLAX-FM “La Raza” and KXOL-FM “Mega 96.3” in Los Angeles; and SBS’s Puerto Rican personality-driven programs, including “El Despelote,” “El Circo,” “La Guerrilla,” “Whatsup?” and “Mega Reguero.”
LaMusica TV will also serve as a hub for SBS’s live concert series, including its Calibash, MiamiBash and MegaMezcla events. Unplugged artist showcases are also in the mix.
