He began his career in broadcasting at age 16 working Sunday mornings at a daytime AM station near his hometown in Alabama. In the 50 years since then, he has done virtually everything that can be done at a radio station.
Today, Roger Bouldin serves at Corporate General Manager for Bristol Broadcasting Company and as the founder of his own Bouldin Radio. That entity has just agreed to purchase an AM/FM combo in Virginia’s Appalachia region.
WXLZ-FM 107.3 in Lebanon, Va., a Class A facility, and WXLZ-AM 1140 in St. Paul, Va., are being acquired from Yeary Broadcasting, led by David Yeary.
The transaction neither includes the broadcast tower for the stations nor the stations’ offices and studios, which Yeary will lease to Bouldin.
A $60,000 purchase price for the stations has been agreed upon, and awaits FCC approval. Of the total, $5,000 is attributed to the station licenses; $55,000 is allocated to transmitters, audio mixing and automation systems, coaxial cable, and antennas.
An $8,000 escrow payment has been made. It is being held by Aaron Shainis of Shainis & Peltzman.
WXLZ-AM & FM join a licensee comprised of WRGS-AM in Rogersville, Tenn., and WHNQ-AM & WSWV-FM in Pennington Gap, Va.
