As of today, “FOX 13” in West Tennessee’s key DMA is owned by a licensee led by Todd Parkin. This could soon change, as RBR+TVBR reported in late March that multiple stations his group acquired are being transferred back from Rincon Broadcasting Group to Standard Media’s Community News Media LLC.
That hasn’t stopped Parkin from naming a VP/GM of the Memphis property once owned by Cox Media Group and, later, by Imagicomm Communications.
Earning the role is Robert P. Richardson, who previously led Rincon-owned ABC affiliate WICS-TV and simulcast partner WICD-TV in the Champaign–Springfield–Decatur, Ill. market, where he also oversaw FOX simulcast partners WRSP-TV & WCCU-TV and WBUI-TV, the CW Network affiliates, through a shared services agreement with GOCOM.
Richardson’s previous roles includes stints at statins in Little Rock (as GM, rising from Director of Sales); as Vice President of Sales at a station in Tampa; and as Director of Sales across several Arkansas stations. “I’m excited to return to the Mid-South and for the opportunity to lead a station with such a strong legacy,” said Richardson.
Parkin added, “Robert proved himself during our Illinois acquisitions and was the clear choice to lead in Memphis. We’re confident he will continue to drive growth and operational excellence.”
