Ottawa Approves ‘CanCon’ Streaming Legislation

TORONTO — It’s taken years of political wrangling and much examination by the Canadian government. On Thursday evening, the Liberal government-introduced Bill C-11 — the Online Streaming Act — passed the Canadian parliament’s Senate.


It’s now law, and applies Canadian content regulations to previously unregulated video streaming services including Netflix and Crave, and to audio services including Spotify.
