On May 28, 2022, Bill O’Shaughnessy died at the age of 84. This put Class D WVOX-AM 1460 in New Rochelle and Class A WVIP-FM 93.5, the stations he controlled under Whitney Media, in the hands of family members who took on the operations of licensee Hudson-Westchester Radio.
On July 1, the FM’s sale to Hope Media Group was announced. It is now known that, while the FCC considers the approval of the $8.15 million deal involving WVIP-FM, Hudson-Westchester has signed a Consent Decree with the Commission resolving transfer of control concerns associated with O’Shaughnessy’s death.
