NPR Confirms Four Podcasts Cancelled In RIF

NPR has confirmed the cancellation of four podcasts on Friday amid the company’s largest reduction in force since 2008.

Now concluded are the offerings Invisibilia, Louder Than a Riot, Rough Translation, and Everyone & Their Mom.

NPR cited growing reluctance among advertisers to spend money on podcasts as a major reason for the group’s financial problems.

Invisibilia started in 2015. The show connected science to the unseen aspects of human behavior.

Louder Than a Riot focused on hip-hip’s untold stories. The podcast’s second season had just premiered earlier in May. NPR wants the show’s staff to stay on until June to finish the current episodes.

Rough Translation had host Gregory Warner travel the globe to discuss and compare how the issues that affect America affect the rest of the world.

Everyone & Their Mom was a spinoff of the long-running NPR program Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me that started in 2022.
