NFL Wildcard game and ‘The Simpsons’ special power Fox Sunday

THE SIMPSONS 450th episode and 20th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL combined with CLEVELAND and the NFC WILDCARD GAME over-run to give FOX the nightly win among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54, Teens and all key demos.


THE SIMPSONS from 8:13-8:44p is projected to post a 6.8 rating among Adults 18-49 giving THE SIMPSONS its highest rating in five years among Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers (since its post-Super Bowl telecast on 2/6/05).

In the 8p half hour, the NFC WILDCARD GAME and POST GAME combined with THE SIMPSONS to post an 8.8/22 in Adults 18-49.   At 8:30p THE SIMPSONS and THE SIMPSONS 20th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL did a 6.3/15.  In the 9p half hour THE SIMPSONS 20th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL delivered a 5.4/12 and at 9:30p the ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL and CLEVELAND combined to a 4.2/10.

Competition

ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos (1.8/5) was on the low side while Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (3.2/8), Desperate Housewives (4.7/11) and Brothers & Sisters (3.5/9) were all in line with their recent averages.

On CBS, a low 60 Minutes (1.4/4) was followed by a repeat NCIS: LA (1.0/3), an original Cold Case (1.9/4) and a repeat Criminal Minds (2.1/5).

Following the two-hour premiere of Dateline Sunday (1.5/4) at 7p, a special Sunday preview of NBC’s Chuck posted a 2.9/7 from 9-11p, about even with its 08/09 season premiere last fall (2.7/7 on Monday 9/29/08).

Due to an NFL overrun until 8:13p, Fast Nationals for FOX are approximate for the night. THE SIMPSONS ran 8:13-8:44p, THE SIMPSONS 20th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL aired 8:44-9:44p and CLEVELAND ran 9:44-10:13p.
