FRESNO — In the Central Valley of California, a vigorously competitive broadcast TV battle sees Sinclair and an ABC Owned Station fight for viewers against a pair of stations owned by Nexstar Media Group.

Those two TV properties now have a new leader, and he’s an individual that for more than a decade through mid-2023 led one of those crosstown facilities.

Matt Morse has been named VP/General Manager for Nexstar’s NBC and CBS stations in the Fresno-Merced market: KSEE-24 and KGPE-47, co-branded as “Your Central Valley.”

Morse is already on the job, reporting to SVP/Regional Manager Matthew Rosenfeld.

“Matt is a highly regarded leader with a distinguished background in broadcast sales management, operations, and marketing, bringing over 20 years of television experience, much of it rooted in Fresno,” said Rosenfeld, who from January 2013 through May 2023 was associated with KMPH-26 and KFRE-59 in Fresno, the Sinclair-owned stations. There, he rose to GM from GSM, Local Sales Manager, and as an account executive focused on KFRE.

“He has built lasting relationships in the Fresno area through his dedication to addressing the needs and priorities of local communities,” Rosenfeld continued. “Matt is a trusted partner who is passionate about fostering the success of local businesses across the Central Valley. Moreover, his proven ability to drive sales performance and surpass revenue goals through creative, multi-platform marketing strategies makes him an invaluable asset to our team and business partners.”

Most recently, Morse has been Sales Manager for The CW owned-and-operated station serving the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose DMA: KRON-4. From 2005-2007, he was National Sales Manager for KPTV “FOX 12” in Portland, Ore. For 13 months prior to that, he served as Local Sales Manager for ABC affiliate KEYT-3 in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Commenting on his new role, Morse said, “I am honored to return to Fresno, my hometown and a community that holds a special place in my heart, to lead the exceptional teams at KSEE-TV and KGPE-TV. This is a unique opportunity to serve the vibrant and diverse communities of California’s Central Valley. KSEE-TV, KGPE-TV, and YourCentralValley.com are essential pillars in the region, and I am committed to building on their strong foundation by enhancing our local news coverage, delivering compelling and unique programming, and providing innovative, results-driven marketing solutions that empower our business partners to thrive.”
