Nexstar, Mission Grab TV Translators In Oklahoma

Steven G. Smith has decided to part ways with two TV translator stations he owns through his Guymon TV Translator Inc.

Who’s buying the Oklahoma facilities? Look no further than the nation’s No. 1 licensee of broadcast TV stations — and its favored shared services partner, led by Dennis Thatcher.

K28GI-D, acquired by Smith from family member DeWitt Smith in December 2023, is formally being assigned to Nexstar.

An agreement was signed on April 16 but not submitted to the FCC for regulatory approval until now.

There is no cash consideration for the TV translator.

Concurrently, Guymon TV Translator Inc. is agreeing to sell K30FY-D to Mission Broadcasting.

There is also no cash consideration for this facility.

Each of the TV translator stations cover the Oklahoma panhandle city of Guymon, which is within the Amarillo, Tex., DMA.

And, the transfer of control aligns with the ownership of the stations each translator rebroadcasts, as KAMR-4 and KCPN-LD 33, the Amarillo market’s NBC and MyNetwork TV affiliates, are owned by Nexstar. K28GI-D rebroadcasts those stations.

K30FY-D is a rebroadcast partner of KCIT-14, the FOX affiliate owned by Mission.

Smith is an Oklahoma Panhandle State University graduate who is an accountant.
