Newt Gingrich’s 2012 presidential campaign released its new ad, “Main Street,” which began airing statewide in Iowa 12/28. Candidates for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination and PACs that have been either supporting or attacking candidates have been pulling out all the stops in Iowa. According to the Des Moines Register, spending in December alone has topped the $10M mark. However, the Gingrich campaign hasn’t

quite reached the half million mark, according to the study, coming home at $476K.

That may change, with the new :30-second ad, which focuses on job creation. It features Gingrich speaking to the camera about how he believes America can create millions of new jobs right now. The ad will remain on air through the 1/3 caucus.

Transcript:
If you hear high unemployment is our new normal, just say bologna!
We can create millions of jobs right now.
My plan includes repealing laws that raise taxes and strangle business.
Cutting taxes so America is once again the best place to invest and create jobs.
And unleashing the power of our energy industry.
That’s just a start. Working together, we can rebuild the America we love and get people working again. I’m Newt Gingrich and I approve this message.

Meanwhile, Iowans have been bombarded by TV spots sponsored by Romney’s Super PAC, called Restore Our Future, that linked Gingrich to numerous conservative taboos. Restore Our Future has spent $2.6 million in the last two weeks on ads opposing Gingrich, according to OpenSecrets.org.
