New Ticker Symbol Can’t Stop Paramount Slide

The VIAC ticker symbol is no longer in use. That’s unfortunate for the company known now as Paramount Global to Nasdaq. On its final day under the old ticker symbol, a $6.41 single-session slump was seen by the company formerly known as ViacomCBS.

In midday trading on Friday, things weren’t much brighter for Paramount.

As of 12:40pm ET on December 18, “PARA” was trading at $28.27, down $1.08 from the previous day.

Short of a late rally, this puts Paramount Global shares — when taking into account the former VIAC — at prices some $13.35 below where they stood in early September 2021.

Worse yet, when negating February-August 2020, Paramount’s shares are at their lowest in five years — and 10 years. It was December 2011 when the stock, minus the COVID-19 dip, traded at this level.
