New Products On The Way From Anywave

Television transmitter supplier Anywave Communication Technologies Inc. is ready to lift the veil on “several important and unique new products” it has in store for those attending the 2023 NAB Show.

On the top of the list is a new ATSC 3.0 exciter that offers a built-in ATSC 3.0 gateway. Anywave is marketing it as “a perfect solution for low-power TV stations” — and any station that does not have a studio separate from the transmitter site.

The exciter/gateway is fully contained in a single 1 rack unit module.

Anywave designs and manufactures the exciter/gateway themselves, offering a broadcaster a single U.S. source for the ATSC 3.0 transmission chain — gateway, exciter, and transmitter.

For stations with a separate studio, Anywave also offers the gateway itself as a standalone product.

The new 3.0 exciter also works as an ATSC 1.0 exciter, so a station broadcasting in 1.0 will not need to add new hardware when converting to 3.0. “Like many Anywave exciters, it also comes with an RF input, allowing it to be used as a translator,” the company says. “Again, this works for 1.0 and 3.0 services, so the future upgrade is simple.”

Anywave will also be showing at the 2023 NAB Show its complete and highly advanced line of low/medium and high power transmitters (air and liquid cooled), which include SFN transmitters and high performance gap fillers, on all bands, UHF, VHF I and VHF III. The company will also introduce several new encoders, including ones that incorporate MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and HEVC, all in one platform.

Anywave’s NAB 2023 booth is W1853.
