Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) and Communications Subcommittee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) have honored the request of Ranking Member counterparts Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Anna Eshoo (D-CA) to hold a hearing on the Resolution of Disapproval designed to forestall enforcement of the FCC’s net neutrality rules. It’ll be held Wednesday, 3/9/11.
The hearing will kick off at 10:30 AM eastern. No witnesses have as yet been announced.
RBR-TVBR observation: This is one issue that does break down along party lines, to an extent. We expect that almost every Republican will love the Resolution of Disapproval. So will some moderate and Blue Dog Democrats. The majority of Democrats will disapprove of the Resolution of Disapproval.
All the hearing will do is chew up time and spill ink into the Congressional Register. Then the Resolution will move on to an uncertain fate in the Senate, and if it survives there, a fairly certain death in the White House, one way or another.
Next likely stop – the courts, again.
