NATPE Tackles ‘Market-wide Disruption’ With Streaming Summit

Don’t think for a minute that the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) isn’t fully cognizant on how the “GAFAN” group of Silicon Valley has invaded both Hollywood and, as of the 2019-2020 Upfronts, New York.

But, NATPE isn’t trying to beat them, and is instead joining them. Or, to be more accurate, NATPE is inviting them in to its arena of TV leaders.

NATPE will host Streaming Plus, a one-day event that is promised to be “the preeminent exchange where streamers will shape and define the future of video content programming and distribution.”

The daylong at the W Hollywood on July 30 “navigates the market-wide disruption by delivering thought leaders from major and emerging platforms who will provide the competitive advantages necessary to grow and succeed.”

Consider it a primer on why direct-to-consumer program delivery is the hottest topic among media buyers and ad agency executives coming out of the Upfronts last week in New York.

Among those speaking at the July 30 Hollywood event are:

  •  Julie McNamara, EVP Original Content, CBS All Access
  •  Heather Moosnick, SVP of Content Partnerships, Hulu
  •  Amy Reinhard, VP of Content Acquisitions, Netflix
  •  Ben Relles, Head of Innovation, YouTube Originals
  •  Sharon Rechter, Co-Founder and President, First Media

“We are thrilled to welcome four of the leading global streaming players to our newly created event,” said NATPE President/CEO JP Bommel. “Their individual corporate viewpoints and their combined knowledge of the streaming space will give every delegate in the room a head start and will be of huge value to businesses both large and small as they navigate this dynamic new age for programming.”

Other event highlights include the participation of French television network TV 5 Monde, which will sponsor a panel dedicated to MVPDs and the future of content delivery.
