The successful completion of the 12th annual Rising Through the Ranks Women in Radio Management & Leadership Training Program is being celebrated by the RAB; Broadcast Music, Inc.; and the Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio (MIW) Group.
Some 27 scholarship recipients were welcomed.
The program was held at the Nashville offices of BMI from August 13-15; BMI provided all scholarships. Recipients were selected and awarded by the three organizations. The two-day curriculum focused on the specific needs of women in radio management or those aspiring to move into management and worked to enhance their overall knowledge and skills.
Sessions at this year’s seminar included:
• The Role of Today’s Radio Manager
• Building Your Personal Brand
• Managing Your Team’s Personalities
• Women in the Radio Workplace
• Managing Up, Down and Sideways
• CULTURE… Healthy vs. Toxic?
The curriculum was customized to feature practical and real-world applications that participants can immediately put to use in their individual companies.
“Our graduates come away with a broader skill set that can be pivotal in making positive change to their individual work situations,” said RAB President/CEO Erica Farber. “Not only do they have a new perspective, but they are surrounded by a new network of supportive women from across the country representing diverse positions in radio.”
BMI VP/Industry Relations Dan Spears said, “Supporting these female radio executives who are on the rise in their careers is something BMI is extremely proud of. Rising Through the Ranks gives these talented participants the tools they need to succeed in the radio industry, and the guidance they receive from top executives, as well as the connections they make through the program, are invaluable.”
MIW Radio Group spokeswoman Denyse Mesnik added, “Rising Through the Ranks is perfectly aligned with the MIW Group’s mission of mentoring and inspiring women in radio broadcasting. Participating in this meaningful program is a privilege for both the scholarship recipients and those of us invited to address the group. We were very impressed by the caliber of this year’s class. Each year, the power of this unique experience becomes evident as graduates return to their offices to incorporate insights learned and continue building successful careers.”
Among the 2019 graduates is Kristina Schoenbeck, Director of New York Mets Sales for Entercom’s New York station group. She said, “Rising Through the Ranks was the perfect blend of personal, meaningful and industry anecdotes with useful trainings and information. I feel more inspired than ever to tackle the next challenge. I’ve also never been prouder to do what I do.”
