The Free Radio Alliance is now 72 stations stronger, thanks to the addition of Duke Wright’s Midwest Communications. FRA is working to prevent imposition of a performance royalty on broadcast radio stations.
“We are proud that Midwest Communications has joined the Free Radio Alliance in its fight to oppose the imposition of a performance tax on radio stations across America,” said FRA spokesperson Peggy Binzel.
“In a world that is rapidly moving toward pay-only music, entertainment and news options, Midwest Communications and local radio stations across the nation stand out as part of an industry whose business model is to provide local listeners the best in music, news and information – all for free.”
Midwest’s mission statement: “Our 72 stations in eight states serve our clients and communities, providing entertainment, music, and news during the times it counts. What began as one station started by the Wright family in 1958 has grown to a network of stations across the country, allowing us to bring you big market entertainment and information with small town familiarity.”
Midwest is active in eight states, including Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Indiana, Illinois and Tennessee.
