He’s most recently served as President of MAX Returns alongside son Jon Lammers, who holds the Vice President role of the MVPD-focused broadcast television station consultancy.

But, from 1997 through 2008, he served as Chief Operating Officer for Nexstar Broadcasting. Now, the industry is pausing to mourn the death of Duane Lammers.

“After several years in TV station promotion and operations, I advanced into sales, and then sales management,” Lammers noted on his LinkedIn profile. “Thanks to the great managers I worked for, I became a General Manager at several properties. At Nexstar Broadcasting I held several positions including GM, Corporate Director of Sales, Executive Vice President, and Chief Operating Officer. We built a company from two stations to 50 over a decade.”

As the head of MAX Retrans, he and Jon Lammers ran a full service consulting firm focused on assisting broadcast television groups with their retransmission consent needs.

Duane Lammers was 64 years of age, and died on July 19.

Lammers graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts in Radio and Television Communication, which led to a successful and wide-ranging career in television and media. However, his ambition started early — while attending Mizzou, he was elected the youngest city councilman in Columbia, Mo.’s history. His television career began shortly after in station promotion and operations. Lammers then transitioned into sales and quickly rose through the ranks to become a General Manager.

Duane Lammers is survived by his beloved wife, Nanette Lammers; his children, Jon Lammers with his wife Amy Cacace, and Alyson Markovich with her husband Kyle Markovich; his parents, Judy and Larry Lammers; his siblings, Darla Spene and Darren Lammers; and his cherished grandchildren: Quinn Lammers, Rory Markovich, and Jordan Lammers.
