LPB Seeks VHF-to-UHF Shift For A Louisiana Channel

0

The entity that owns and operates the main PBS Member stations across the state of Louisiana is asking the FCC to give the OK to upgrade a Monroe, La.-based property to a UHF broadcast facility.

LPB, formerly Louisiana Public Broadcasting, wants to shift its KLTM-13 from VHF Channel 13 to UHF Channel 29.

In the digital TV era, signal penetration is stronger with a UHF signal, hence the desire to make the shift.

For this to happen, the Video Division Chief, Barbara Kreisman, is establishing a comment period. It begins 15 days after publication of the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in the Federal Register, with reply comments due 30 days after such publication.
