The New York Giants NFL club has reached an extended partnership agreement with NBCUniversal that will bring the first Spanish-language pre-season broadcast of an annual contest between the NFC franchise and its in-stadium AFC rival to “Telemundo 47” viewers.
The new agreement with WNBC-TV and sibling WNJU-TV means en español coverage of the grudge match between the Giants and Jets will be had.
The game is scheduled for Saturday, August 16 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The broadcast will air live on Telemundo 47’s over-the-air and digital platforms and will feature national broadcast announcers Miguel Gurwitz and Rolando Cantú, hosts of Thursday Night Football on Prime Video and NBC Sunday Night Football on Telemundo Deportes and the Universo channel.
“This is a milestone moment,” said WNJU President/GM Cristina Schwarz. “We are thrilled to bring the Giants-Jets preseason game to Telemundo 47 viewers for the first time, all in the language they prefer and on the platforms they know and trust.”
Meanwhile, WNBC-TV has secured a presenting sponsorship from Cadillac to air not only the Giants-Jets pre-season matchup but also the Giants game in Orchard Park, N.Y., versus the Buffalo Bills. That game is schedule for 1pm on August 9 from Highmark Stadium, the lone NFL home within the State of New York.
WNBC’s two pre-season broadcasts will feature The Voice of the Giants, Bob Papa, and he’ll be joined by broadcast analysts Carl Banks, Phil Simms and Howard Cross. WNBC lead sports anchor Bruce Beck will appear as a sideline reporter.
“We are proud to extend our long-standing partnership with NBC 4 New York which will continue to provide our fans with in-depth coverage this preseason as the team gets prepared for the 2025 season,” said Nilay Shah, SVP Marketing & Brand Strategy of the New York Giants. “Adding our first-ever Spanish speaking preseason broadcast on Telemundo 47 will continue our commitment to create new platforms and opportunities for our fans to consume Giants content throughout the year.”
The partnership extension will also continue their exclusive program, “All-Access: Giants Training Camp” presented by Hospital for Special Surgery. New episodes will air Saturdays on WNBC and on digital and streaming platforms.
