He’s been the Senior Director of Sales for local and digital at KERO “23ABC” in Bakersfield, owned by The E.W. Scripps Co.
Meet the new VP/GM of the ABC pair serving Springfield and Champaign-Urbana, Ill., stations owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group.
Taking the role is Robert P. Richardson, putting him in control of WICS-20/WICD-15 in Champaign, Springfield, and Decatur, IL. He will also be responsible for oversight of Sinclair’s shared services agreement with GOCOM Media‘s FOX simulcast WRSP-55/WCCU-27 and The CW Network-affiliated WBUI-23 in the downstate Illinois region.
Richardson reports to Rob Weisbord, Sinclair’s Chief Operating Officer and President of Broadcast. Weisbord said, “Robert is a proven leader, with over 20 years of experience developing sales strategies and driving revenue for broadcast and digital media. We are excited to have him at the helm in Champaign, Springfield, and Decatur.”
Richardson has held several executive leadership positions throughout his career, including roles as General Manager/Director of Sales at KABZ, KKPT and KHLR in Little Rock; Vice President of Sales at WFLA-8 and WTTA-TV in Tampa; and Director of Sales at KARK, KARZ, KRLT and KASN in Little Rock.
