At 680 kHz in Olympia, Wash., a unique music-driven radio station has offered nostalgia to fans of records released on 78 RPM as “K-Bird.” The facility is a Class D daytime-only AM, with an all-important FM translator giving its 24/7 service to the state capital of Washington. Pending FCC approval, it will soon have a second AM in its stable.
With 3kw of power, KGTK-AM 920 in Olympia is being gifted to KBRD’s parent, known as BJ & Skip’s For the Music Foundation, by Alan Gottlieb and his KITZ Radio Inc.
KGTK is presently silent under Special Temporary Authority with the FCC. It had been airing a spoken word format as “Gun Talk,” as Gottlieb is the founder of the “Second Amendment Foundation.”
