In 1978, he first took a job in Radio as an on-air personality, with stations in Madison, Wisc., and in Milwaukee. By 1997, he played a pivotal role in the formation of Capstar Broadcasting, thanks to industry consolidation of the times. This set the stage for today’s iHeartMedia ownership plan in Wisconsin.
Now, Jeff Tyler is concluding a nearly five-decade career in Radio.
Across three decades, Tyler held numerous leadership positions, including holding the roles of Market Manager in both Madison and Milwaukee for iHeartMedia and its predecessor companies, including Clear Channel. In 2010, Tyler was promoted to Region President and later moved to Minneapolis in 2015 to serve as Regional President for iHeartMedia. He rose to Division President in July 2018 before returning to Wisconsin in 2022 to lead as Metro President and most recently Area President.
“Broadcast radio has been my life,” said Tyler. “I’ve worked in every aspect of this business and have been fortunate to work for tremendous leaders who helped shape my career, including the creative and innovative team at iHeartMedia. I’m grateful to have worked with so many talented, dedicated professionals in vibrant broadcast markets, serving advertisers and creating meaningful partnerships. I’m excited to begin a more flexible chapter of life with my family, while continuing to support our sports partnerships in the short term.”
Nick Gnau, Division President of the iHeartMedia Multi-Platform Group, commented, “It has been an honor to work with Jeff at many levels throughout our careers. His deep knowledge of both sales and programming is truly exceptional. I’ll miss his leadership and our daily collaboration, but I’m thrilled for him to enjoy more relaxation and family time after such an extraordinary career.”
