Technically, there are 35 FM radio stations that may be within distant listening range of Kahlotus, Washington, a town of less than 200 people made famous in June 2007 when an Oregon man purchased half the town after a visit to simply go antique shopping.
However, most of the stations are based in the Tri-Cities of Richland, Kennewick and Pasco, some 45 miles to the southwest.
That’s about to change.
Xana HD Solutions has successfully received an amendment to the FM Table of Allotments that brings a Class A FM at 104.5 MHz to fruition, with Kahlotus as its city of license.
It’s a big move forward for the town, where cattle and wheat farming dominate.
And, it is the latest in several years’ worth of transactions in the Pacific Northwest for Xana, a licensee headed by Thomas D. Hodgins and Chris Jacky.
No counterproposals or other comments were received in response to Xana’s petition.
