California-headquartered Inovonics Inc. has rolled out a firmware upgrade for its 677 EAS Triple Tuner. It adds new features to enable compatibility with both today’s EAS hardware products and forthcoming software-based EAS implementations.
The 677 EAS Triple Tuner continues to interface with DASDEC and SAGE EAS hardware. Now, with new firmware Rev 1.1.0.0 the 677 also provides a trio of simultaneous audio streams that could be ingested by software-based EAS.
The all-digital 677 has three independent receivers for any combination of AM, FM, or WB reception and monitoring. Each 677 receiver has off-air antenna inputs and balanced monaural XLR outputs.
Inovonics President/CEO Ben Barber commented, “We are always looking for ways to improve our products and add greater utility for broadcasters. With this current debate about hardware vs software-based EAS solutions, we wanted to assure customers that their 677 EAS Triple Tuner will continue to do its job well, whether they´re using a hardware EAS solution or future software-based EAS implementation.”
