Imagicomm Resolves Xfinity Retrans Impasse

After 30 days with no access to the FOX affiliate serving Spokane and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho or its FOX sibling in Memphis, those who rely on one of the nation’s biggest MVPDs to deliver these stations can now rejoice in their restoration. A fresh retransmission consent accord has been reached.

As a result, Imagicomm Communications-owned KAYU-TV in Spokane and WHBQ-TV in Memphis are back on Comcast’s Xfinity systems in the respective DMAs.

The new deal includes on-demand content.

“We’re pleased to be able to return KAYU-FOX to our customers through a new agreement … which reflects today’s evolving media marketplace and stabilizes the cost of programming for our customers,” Comcast said in a statement released late Tuesday.

The removal of KAYU and WHBQ from Xfinity lineups came in September.

KAYU and WHBQ became Imagicomm stations following its acquisition of properties from Cox Media Group, a divestment engineered to help Standard General win regulatory approval of its now-failed merger acquisition of TEGNA.
