In early October, RBR+TVBR was first to report the addition of a Class C1 facility serving Clovis, N. Mex., by a swiftly expanding group led by Monte Spearman.
It turns out he wasn’t done, as his High Plains Radio Network is grabbing more stations from the seller.
On October 2, it became known that HPRN is purchasing KICA-FM 98.3, licensed to Farwell, Tex., from Tejas Broadcasting for $25,000.
An LMA agreement is in place, and a 10% escrow deposit has been made to Tejas.
Tejas was expected to continue to own eight radio stations and FM translator K224EF in Amarillo, its largest market. Among those properties are KKYC-FM in Clovis, N. Mex., the market KICA serves.
It turns out that Tejas has opted to sell KKYC to HPRN, too … and three other stations plus K224EF.
According to a broker announcement released Wednesday by Media Services Group, HPRN is adding Class C3 KKYC-FM 102.3 and Class C2 KKNM-FM 96.5 in Bovine, Tex.; Class C2 KGRW-FM 94.7 in Friona, Tex.; and K224EF feeder station KZIP-AM 1310 in Amarillo, a Class D facility.
The purchase price is $285,000, including the previously agreed-to amount for KICA.
Bill Whitley of the Dallas office of Media Services Group served as the exclusive broker for this transaction.
With 31 radio stations and three FM translators, HPRN enjoys properties across Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Mississippi. HPRN is also in the process of acquiring Class A KVWC-FM 103.1 in Vernon, Tex., branded as “The Voice for the Greenbelt,” and 1kw Class C KVWC-AM 1490 in Vernon.
