An AM/FM combo located in Oklahoma is trading hands, and the seller has been operating with “Brute Force.”
That’s the name of the entity under the spotlight in TRANSACTIONS TODAY from RBR+TVBR for Wednesday, May 2.
Brute Force Radio LLC is the owner of KBEL-AM & FM in Idabell, Okla., a small community near Broken Bow in a Tri-State area that covers portions of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas.
KBEL-FM is a Class C3 25kw facility airing a Country format, while KBEL-AM is a Class C 1kw facility with 1 tower offering Talk programming to this corner of Oklahoma.
Now, Brute Force — led by Rod Liechti — is selling the stations to KBEL Communications for $230,000.
A Smulyan is involved: David Smulyan, that is. He is the sole owner of KBEL Communications, and the deal includes all property and intellectual assets for the stations.
While this deal will remove Liechti as an owner, he will still oversee the station’s activities. That’s because Bruce Force will continue to operate KBEL-AM & FM by way of an LMA, which went into effect on Tuesday (5/1).
Also in TRANSACTIONS TODAY:
- Red Mountain Broadcasting is obtaining FM translator W225AH at 92.9 MHz from Focus Radio Communications for $125,000. The facility covers Huntsville, Ala., and a 10% escrow deposit has been made to the seller’s client trust account with Dick and Miller PC. The translator is licensed to rebroadcast a multicast signal associated with 100kw WDRM-FM 102.1 in Decatur, Ala.
