Iconic former North Carolina Senator Jesse Helms joined Founding Fathers Thomas Jefferson and John Adams by making July 4th his last day, passing away at age 86. One of his early gigs was at legendary WRAL-AM in Raleigh-Durham NC, and he later was a force at WRAL-TV. From there he went on to bigger things.
