EAST BOSTON, MASS. — The Hearst Television station considered to be its flagship property, an ABC affiliate branded as “Boston’s News Leader,” is bumping a game show to the wee hours of the morning in order to accommodate a new midday local newscast.
WCVB-TV will introduce on Monday (1/5) “NewsCenter 5 at 12:30PM,” airing weekdays until 1pm.
The change effectively brings a full hour of news produced by WCVB to the noon hour, with the 12:30-1pm newscast anchored by Jessica Brown. “NewsCenter 5 at Noon” will continue to be co-anchored by Brown and Antoinette Antonio.
The launch of “NewsCenter 5 at 12:30” will replace the game show “25 Words or Less,” distributed by FOX First Run and co-produced with Dino Bones Productions, Is or Isn’t Entertainment and Regular Brand. It will now clear the Boston market per contractual obligations by airing weekdays at 2:06am.
