Roger S. Haddon is known across the radio broadcasting industry for his time as a Music Director, as a Program Director and as the President/CEO of the Sunbury Broadcasting Corp., comprised of four radio stations.
Haddon has now decided to sell one of those properties. The owner is a prolific buyer and seller of broadcast radio and TV stations based in Wyoming.
According to an agreement signed on April 9 and submitted Tuesday (4/15) for FCC regulatory approval, Sunbury is spinning WVLY-FM in Milton, Pa., to Vic Michael Jr.’s Michael Radio Company LLC.
WVLY is a Class A facility at 100.9 MHz serving an area just east of Bloomsburg and just south of Williamsport, including Shamokin and Mifflinburg. It is presently Adult Contemporary, as “The Valley.”
What does the future hold for “The Valley”? Reached via e-mail by RBR+TVBR, Haddon said, “We have enjoyed immensely the privilege of operating 100.9 WVLY for nearly 20 years. We are now returning the license to a family who preceded us in this station’s rich heritage. Ultimately it is up to Vic and Van Michael to determine the future of 100.9 FM in the Susquehanna Valley.”
A $410,000 purchase price has been agreed to by the parties, with a $20,000 escrow deposit made by Michael to Haddon’s company.
Sunbury’s other stations are comprised of WKOK-AM 1070, WQKX-FM 94.7 and WEGH-FM 107.3 “Eagle 107.”
