Jeff Winemiller and his Lowcountry 34 Media has engaged in a series of transactions in recent months involving low-power television stations.
On Thursday (9/2), he moved forward with the sale of six LPTV construction permits.
The buyer? The company co-led by Pat LaPlatney and Hilton Howell Jr.
In an agreement just filed with the FCC for regulatory approval, Gray is seeking the OK to acquire the following properties:
K19MZ-D, Arriba, Colorado (FCC FAC ID 186847)
K32OG-D, Pueblo, Colorado (FCC FAC ID 185447)
W31FD-D, Beaufort, South Carolina (FCC FAC ID 186374)
W29FR-D, Lebanon-Nashville, Tennessee (FCC FAC ID 187448)
W36FM-D, Etna, Maine (FCC FAC ID 186113)
W19FA-D, Bangor, Maine (FCC FAC ID 186112)
The properties suggest that Gray will use the LPTV to boost over-the-air coverage in the Colorado Springs DMA, where Gray owns KKTV-11; in Savannah, Ga., where Gray’s WTOC-11 dominates but is limited with a digital channel in the VHF band; and in Maine, where WABI-5 serves Bangor on VHF Channel 13.
For W29FR-D, the property would likely be used to give WSMV-4 a boost in the Lebanon area; the station is being acquired by Gray through its merger with Meredith Local Media.
The transaction is valued at $1.165 million; a $500,000 deposit has been wired to Lowcountry 34 by Gray.
Serving as the broker in this transaction is Patrick Communications, who represented Winemiller. His legal counsel was Davina Sashkin at BakerHostetler.
