First, it was a Georgia-centric Peachtree Sports Network. Now, Gray Television is launching a similarly themed broadcast entity focused on the teams and leagues of particular interest to viewers across South Carolina.

Introducing Palmetto Sports & Entertainment, from the company’s Gray Media arm.

The new network will be based out of Gray’s WIS-TV in Columbia, S.C., and will focus on live, local sports with “a wide variety of entertainment programming” across the state of South Carolina.

WIS-TV started broadcasting live games earlier this year, thanks to agreements with the Charleston Battery (USL) and Columbia Fireflies (MiLB) minor-league sports franchise.

The channel is anticipated to launch in October 2024 on WIS-10’s DT4 signal, in addition to WHNS-21.2 in Greenville-Asheville-Spartanburg, S.C.; WZCH-35.3 in Charleston, S.C.; and on WMBF-32.3 in Myrtle Beach. WPAM-LD 18.1 in Augusta, Ga., will also be a Palmetto participant, given its geography.

Palmetto Sports & Entertainment’s professional team partnerships at launch will include the Charleston RiverDogs, Greenville Triumph, and Greenville Liberty. In addition, several schools and colleges will be featured, including an official media partnership with Clemson University through WHNS, branded as “FOX Carolina.”

“We are proud to be an Official Partner of Clemson Athletics and couldn’t be more grateful,” said WHNS VP/GM Bryce Caldwell. “It will give viewers the opportunity to see re-imagined Clemson coaches shows, specials and unique content you can’t find anywhere else.”
