It’s a south-of-Boston FM translator no longer linked to an AM being used to bring “Mega”-sized Spanish-language programming to the growing Hispanic population of the Back Bay. As such, Gois Broadcasting is agreeing to part ways with the facility.
W235CS at 94.9 MHz in Dedham, Mass., is being sold by Ivon Gois’ Worcester, Mass.-based radio broadcasting company to Blount Masscom Inc.
That’s the entity led by William Blount, who is based in Derry, N.H.
A $250,000 purchase price for the FM translator has been agreed to, with a $60,000 escrow deposit being held by attorney Allan G. Moskowitz.
Blount plans to operate the W235CS via a Time Brokerage Agreement and immediate file with the FCC a primary station change request that would allow the FM translator to rebroadcast Christian Talk & Teaching WILD-AM.
This is possible as Gois has satisfied the FCC requirement of having W235CS rebroadcast WAMG-AM in Boston for a minimum four-year period.
Serving as Blount’s legal counsel in this transaction is Joe Chautin III of Hardy, Carey, Chautin & Balkin.
Blount Masscom agreed to acquire WILD-AM, at 1090 kHz, in August 2020 for $80,000. With their ownership, the station, which had served the Black community of Boston from 1958 through the 2010s, became “Life Changing Radio,” a Christian Talk and Teaching noncommercial network with stations in Providence; Portland, Me.; Manchester, N.H.; Worcester, Mass.; and in Hartford and New Haven, Conn.
