Gois’ AM Will Soon Be Gone, But It’ll Be Very Relevant

It’s a Class B AM with an FM translator serving the Hartford area, including nearby Bristol, Conn., from New Britain, Conn. And, it has long been a voice of the Spanish-language audience in the Constitution State under the ownership of Paul Gois.

Soon, that will change, with these “Mega” facilities poised to become part of the Relevant Radio family.

WLAT-AM 910 and W269DE at 101.7 MHz in New Britain, Conn., are being sold by Gois Broadcasting of Connecticut to Relevant Radio.

A $400,000 purchase price has been agreed upon by the parties, with a $20,000 deposit made to Gois by the broadcast ministry held at Nicolet Bank. The remainder will be paid in cash at closing.

Gois was represented in this transaction by Kozacko Media Services and JBMedia Radio Consulting.

Relevant Radio’s legal representative of record is Mark Denbo of Smithwick & Belendiuk, while Gois is represented by Allan G. Moskowitz.

Gois acquired WLAT-AM along with WNEZ-AM in Manchester, Conn., in November 2007 from receiver Larry Patrick as part of the bankruptcy of Freedom Communications of Connecticut, paying $2.65 million for the stations. But, its history as “Mega” dates to 2001 when the former Mega Broadcasting, headed by Alfredo Alonso, owned the facility.
