General Markets Dip As Trade Uncertainty Persists

U.S. financial markets dipped on Thursday as the nation’s trade ties with China fell into a cloud of uncertainty 12 hours after the biggest protests to hit the streets of Hong Kong in nearly 30 years.


The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 43.68 points to 26,004.83.

Nasdaq was off 29.85, to 7,792.72.

How did media stocks fare?

Townsquare Media gained 6 cents to finish at $5.12.

TEGNA was off by 11 cents to $14.81 one day after agreeing to purchase TV stations in Columbus, Ohio and Indianapolis.

The E.W. Scripps Co. gained 19 cents, to $14.96.

Emmis Communications ended Wednesday’s trading at $4.25, thanks to a 24-cent gain fueled by the divestment of its majority ownership of radio stations in Austin to Sinclair Telecable.
