A veteran radio industry market-level leader who has been overseeing Urban One‘s properties in Raleigh-Durham is saying farewell, and is ready to conclude his career.

Gary Weiss‘ successor has already been named, and he’ll start his new role on November 1.

With Weiss retiring after more than 20 years of service to the company led by Alfred Liggins III, Mitch Galvin is set to assume the GM role for Urban One/Raleigh-Durham.

Galvin has been with the company since 2010, first as the General Manager of its Cincinnati markets and most recently as the Vice President of National Sales. “He brings extensive market and operational experience and a strong track record of revenue leadership,” the company said.

Eddie Harrell Jr., Co-President of Urban One’s Audio Division, commented, “We are grateful for Gary’s leadership and dedication over the past 20 years. His commitment to our audiences, advertisers, and communities has left a lasting impact.”

Harrell added, “We are confident that Mitch will carry forward our strong foundation in the Raleigh market and build on the current momentum.”

Weiss will continue to support the transition through the end of December, Urban One said.
