Since 1950, Furniture City Broadcasting Corp. has served the Michigan city of Grand Rapids with Christian-themed programming.
Doing so involves a heritage AM, and a Class B FM at 102.9 MHz.
The FM has just been sold, to a much bigger non-secular operator.
WFUR-FM in Grand Rapids is being sold by William E. Kuiper Jr.’s Furniture City Broadcasting to Bible Broadcasting Network of Matthews, N.C., a Charlotte suburb.
WFUR dates to 1960 and will now become a part of BBN, which operates 48 stations across the U.S.
WFUR has been licensed as a commercial station. It will convert to noncommercial status upon closing.
How valuable is WFUR to BBN? It is paying $2.75 million for the property.
A 10% escrow deposit has been made to Shainis & Peltzman, the seller’s legal counsel.
The broker in this transaction is Joseph Tito of American Communications Partners.
