As of July 13, the Senior VP of Engineering, Operations and Technology position role at FOX Television Stations will be held by an individual who most recently served in a similar role at TEGNA. He succeeds Tim Joyce, who retired at the end of June.

Joining the organization led by CEO Jack Abernethy is Robert Lydick.

Reporting directly to Abernethy, Lydick will oversee all engineering, operations, and technology functions for the station group.

Abernethy shared, “Robert has been a key player at Tegna for over a decade and is a great fit for this role. He has tremendous knowledge of our core stations business and a deep understanding of how to manage engineering and technology operations. He is a terrific addition to an already strong FTS bench of executives.”

Lydick was TEGNA’s VP of Station Operations and Technology until July 2025, rising from VP of Information Technology and Station Operations.

Prior to joining TEGNA in October 2016, he served as Regional Director of Technology of TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate KARE-11 in Minneapolis. Before that, he held a similar role at KSDK-5 in St. Louis.

“Joining the Fox Television Stations is an exciting opportunity,” said Lydick. “I’m looking forward to working with an amazing team on some of local journalism’s biggest technical challenges. I’m humbled to be in the role and can’t wait to get started.”

Joyce’s retirement comes some 4 1/2 years after taking the SVP/Engineering, Operations, and Technology for FTS since January 2022. Prior to leading engineering for the station group, he spent nearly three years as the Senior Vice President of Media and Broadcast Engineering for FOX Corporation. Before that, Joyce served as the Senior Vice President of Technology Business Relations for FOX Networks Group in Los Angeles.

He commented, “After 27 years at FOX—from Fox Latin American Channels to National Geographic, Fox International Channels Europe, Fox Tech, and Fox Television Stations—I’ve learned that while companies evolve and technology changes, it’s the people who make the journey unforgettable. Thank you for being the best part of mine.”

FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. Of these stations, 17 are affiliated with the FOX Network.
