With the retirement of WFLD “FOX 32” in Chicago SVP/General Manager Sheila Oliver, a successor in the Windy City was a choice left for FOX Television Stations Chief Executive Officer Jack Abernethy. Getting the role is the current SVP/GM of WITI “FOX 6” in Milwaukee.
Earning the post in Chicago is Glenn Berk, who will be succeeded at WITI by Mim Davey.
Davey will add WITI management to her oversight of KMSP “FOX 9” and WFTC-TV in Minneapolis.
Abernethy thanked Oliver for being “a driving force” at Fox TV Stations for more than 20 years and congratulated her on a distinguished career spanning multiple markets. He added, “Mim and Glenn are both seasoned FOX Television Station veterans, with deep experience in news and sales, making them ideal leaders to build on our momentum – particularly in local journalism and digital growth. We’re fortunate to have a strong bench of internal talent, and I’m confident both will continue to lead with vision and success.”
Berk has been with FOX TV stations for a quarter-century and before taking the WITI role spent nine years as VP/GSM of the company’s Chicago stations. He’s also held similar duties at WHBQ “FOX 13” in Memphis under FOX ownership and before that was National Sales Manager for WTXF “FOX 29″ in Philadelphia.
“Returning to Chicago feels like coming home,” Berk said. “This city and station hold deep personal and professional meaning for me, and I’m honored to rejoin a team that’s dedicated to serving the community with impactful journalism and innovative local programming. I look forward to building on the strong foundation Sheila has established.”
Davey has been with the FOX-owned stations in Minneapolis for more than 20 years, where she previously served as Assistant News Director and Vice President/News Director. She said, “It’s a privilege to take on this expanded role and continue working with the exceptional teams in Milwaukee and Minneapolis. Both FOX 6 and FOX 9 have strong connections to their communities, and I’m committed to supporting their continued growth and local leadership.”
Commenting on her career conclusion, Oliver said, “For the past 23 years, I’ve had the privilege of working for FOX and for Jack Abernethy, who gave me the freedom and support to innovate and challenge the status quo. In Minneapolis, Seattle, and Chicago, I’ve worked alongside teams willing to turn over every stone to make things happen, sometimes against all odds. FOX has been a gift in my career, and I’m especially grateful to the staff at FOX 32. With three young grandchildren, this feels like the perfect time to retire and focus on family.”
