In early July, a Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group known as the Media and Democracy Project generated headlines for its petition to the FCC asking it to deny the license renewal of a FOX Television Stations property serving Philadelphia.
Why? The group contends that Fox engaged in “intentional and chronic news distortion,” which it believes “further divided the country, sowing discord that was a contributing factor to the attack on our nation’s Capitol on January 6, 2021.” As WTXF-29 is one of 29 Fox Television Stations properties, MAD says it has failed to live up to its “basic statutory duty to conduct its operations in the public interest.”
FOX has responded.
