With only two nights left to be tallied by Nielsen, CBS is claiming victory in total viewership for the 2010-2011 television season. Fox is racing to another easy win in the big money 18-49 demo.
As usual, CBS was first to issue its projections for the season outcome, claiming that it will claim its eighth victory in the past nine years for total viewership. CBS projects that it will also place second in adults 18-49 for the fifth consecutive year and second in adults 25-54. In both of those demos, Fox will be first.
“In a sign of the network’s broad reach and demographic strength across the schedule, CBS will finish the season with more programs ranked among the Top 25 in adults 18-49 (8) and adults 25-54 (13) than any other network,” CBS declared.
CBS said it will win the May sweep in viewers for the 9th consecutive year and 10th in the last 11 years.
Here are the season-to-date ratings, September 20, 2010 through May 22, 2011, from The Nielsen Company, as compiled by CBS.
