The exit of Rep. Mark Souder (R-IN) from the US House of Representatives in the wake of a scandal over an extramarital affair has led to an already-crowded field of candidates to run in his place. In the mix is a morning news anchor at Fort Wayne’s ABC WPTA-TV.

According to the Associated Press, the broadcaster is Ryan Elijah. He’ll take a leave of absence to pursue the seat, according to the station. The Malara Broadcast Group station is in an LMA with Granite Broadcasting, which owns NBC WISE-TV in the market.

The other three candidates are all politicians. One is a state senator, one a state representative and the other a member of the Fort Wayne city council.
