For SSL, A New SolidPitch Effect and Big Workflow Enhancements

At this year’s NAB Show, Solid State Logic will preview what it calls “a major new software update for its touring and installed sound platform.

This will see the market debut of SSL Live V6.2.

Headlining the release is SolidPitch, a new onboard vocal tuning effect, and KLANG integration for personalised immersive in-ear mixing, alongside a range of workflow and control enhancements designed to help engineers deliver greater creative flexibility, faster operation and more precise control for complex shows and installations.

SolidPitch is a new onboard vocal tuning effect designed for everything from gentle pitch correction to over-the-top, modern, pop vocal effects, but it also contains powerful processing capabilities for doubling and harmonisation alongside tuning, making it a highly versatile and creative effect for live production.

The Doubler effect sums two copies of the tuned signal before sending it to the output, which can be detuned and delayed to create an impression of greater thickness, or increased width when a stereo path is used. The amount of doubling is controlled with the Mix parameter, which controls the balance of the single tuned signal and the effected copies. Detune and Delay effects can be applied within the Depth parameter. In stereo configurations, the Width parameter pans the two doubled copies to the left and right respectively.

Meanwhile, the Harmony section adds another pitch shifted copy of the tuned signal. Like the Doubler, the level of the harmony copy is set by the Mix parameter, making it possible to isolate the harmony. The harmony shifting amount is controlled by the Interval parameter and can also be panned left and right. Harmonies can also be locked to selected target pitches using Scale or the onscreen keyboard in conjunction with the Scale Lock button.

SSL Live V6.2 also adds seamless console integration with KLANG immersive processors, allowing immersive monitor mixes to be created and controlled directly from the console. Audio can be routed across any interface, including MADI and Dante, and control is provided via network integration, enabling any KLANG processing device to be fully incorporated into the SSL Live workflow. The console’s Aux bus controls can be switched to KLANG mode, providing a familiar and intuitive KLANG GUI for managing individual mixes. KLANG mixes and on‑console Aux busses can be freely combined based on personal preference and the KLANG hardware in use. Whether adapting existing console showfiles to incorporate KLANG immersive mixing or starting fresh on a new project, the integration is quick, transparent, and designed for speed and creativity.
