The licensee of an AM/FM combo and three FM translators serving the Chico, Calif., radio market is moving ahead with the transfer of the stations’ licenses to a property trust. It is a move requiring FCC approval that comes following the passing of the licensee’s head.
Butte Broadcasting Co., owner of KKXX-AM in Paradise, Calif.; KYIX-FM in South Oroville, Calif.; and Chico-based FM translators K280GL, K289CH and K283AR, are being transferred to The Carl J. Auel Separate Property Trust.
The move is precipitated by the April 2 passing of Butte President Carl Auel, who held 50% attributable interest in the licensee.
Auel was 86 years of age.
