Fight Against D.C.-Area FM Translator Yields Fine For Improper Antenna

While the move has been made, this Montgomery County, Md. FM translator’s request to modify its facilities yielded an informal objection by the licensee of a low-power FM station in Takoma Park, Md., for its current operation, as there is a co-channel interference matter.

Now, the Audio Division of the Media Bureau has determined that the licensee of the FM translator constructed the facility with an incorrect antenna. But, that will result in a forfeiture and not the LPFM owner’s hoped-for license cancellation.
