New Parking Spot For Ferrari As Ex-News Head Returns To Lead Telemundo

MIAMI — In a somewhat surprising move, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises has made a change at the top, with the man who has served as its Chairman “transitioning” to a role as a NBCUniversal senior advisor.

With Beau Ferrari no longer in the role, it is being given to the man whose resume includes a stint at the helm of Noticias Telemundo. He also has deep experience in Spain’s media scene, and “retired” two years ago.

Succeeding Ferrari as NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises Chairman is Luis Fernández.

He reports to Cesar Conde, the former Telemundo head who is today Chairman of NBCUniversal News Group.

It marks an end to a two-year retirement for Fernández, who was replaced by Patsy Loris as President of NBCU Telemundo’s news operations at the start of 2022.

And, to be clear, it comes as Ferrari, who has served as Chairman the past three years, is moving into a role as a senior advisor — allowing him to work closer with Conde on strategic growth opportunities across the News Group and NBCUniversal beyond its Spanish-language properties.

“Under Beau’s successful leadership, Telemundo has remained a highly influential voice to Spanish-speaking audiences throughout the nation,” Conde said. “He has led Telemundo during a transformative time. He and the team delivered innovative content across all platforms and record financial results. I look forward to continuing to work closely with him in his new role.”

Fernández came to the U.S. after serving as Chief Executive Officer of Radio Television Española (RTVE), Spain’s state-owned public radio and television corporation, where he supervised television, radio and digital divisions.

Stateside, however, he served as President of Univision Entertainment and Univision Studios.

Fernández also served as a Beijing-based International CEO for storied Spanish professional soccer club Real Madrid.

Fernández has also held leadership positions at Canal +, Telecinco, Cadena SER, Radio EL PAÍS and Cadena COPE.

“Throughout his extraordinary career, Luis has time and again shown visionary leadership, building and growing the most successful Spanish language media organizations in the United States and overseas,” Conde said. “At this moment in Telemundo’s storied history, we are so fortunate to have someone of Luis’s experience and stature to rejoin our team and excited about what the future holds for Telemundo and its audiences under his leadership.”
