FCC’s March Meeting Puts Focus On GPS Alternatives, 911

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a blog post shared by the National Association of Broadcasters in mid-February, NAB EVP/Chief Technology Officer Sam Metheny spoke of the “fragility” of the satellite-based global positioning system, one that Diamond Consulting principal Patrick Diamond says has no backup. One possible solution comes courtesy of the NAB itself — a Broadcast Positioning System (BPS).


The next FCC monthly Open Meeting could address the readiness of BPS and its possibilities.
