In Alabama’s largest market, Sinclair Inc. owns the MyNetwork TV and The CW Network affiliates, housed on full-power stations, as well as the low-power ABC affiliate.
As of today, these stations have a new VP/General Manager.
Now in the role is Jennifer Hansen, who is inbound from Fox affiliate WRLH-35 in Richmond, also owned by Sinclair.
With Sinclair COO and President of Local Media Rob Weisbord continuing as her boss, Hansen will lead WBMA “My68,” WTTO “The CW 21 Alabama” and WBMA-LD 58 in Birmingham.
WBMA is branded as “ABC 33/40,” and is a legacy brand that today reflects the station’s MVPD carriage positions in the Birmingham DMA.
“With her proven record of strong leadership, we’re thrilled Jennifer is now overseeing the stations’ linear and digital assets in Birmingham, as we continue to deliver compelling content, engage our audiences, and drive success across all platforms,” Weisbord said. “Jennifer’s expertise will be a valuable addition to the market.”
Hansen commented, “I am excited to be back in Alabama and thrilled to be a part of WBMA, the weather authority in the region and the new home of SEC football in Central Alabama. I look forward to leading all of our businesses, continuing to be an important resource for our audiences and community, and providing innovative solutions to our partners across all our platforms.”
Prior to joining Sinclair, Hansen consulted for several organizations. A former executive with The Walt Disney Company, she spent 14 years as part of Disney Media and led the local Radio Disney business, spanning 40+ markets across the U.S. Earlier in her career, Hansen served as Regional Sales Manager for iHeartMedia predecessor Clear Channel Communications (1998-2000). Her first job in media was as an Account Executive for Cumulus, in Montgomery, Ala.
