WASHINGTON, D.C. — As the lone Democrat serving as a FCC Commissioner, Anna M. Gómez has waged a verbal war against the leadership of Chairman Brendan Carr and the Trump Administration for how it has “weaponized” the Commission since January 2025. With Media Bureau Chief Erin Boone approving the Nexstar Media Group merger with TEGNA by granting necessary rule waivers, she wasted no time in drafting a dissenting opinion — only, it was not distributed along with the Media Bureau decision, based on normal Commission protocol.

On Thursday, Gómez did her part to ensure everybody knew just how she felt about the lack of a full Commission decision on the biggest broadcast TV merger in modern times.
